We had a test this morning, for me the test was alright but I did not answer 3 question one was about Long tail, others I cannot remember what was the question.

In the tutorial I finished off my YouTube project. But I do not have YouTube account to upload my video. So I asked my friend Long Tran if he can use his account to upload the video for me.
He's ok with that and he finally uploaded it up for me. Here is the URL to it;

project B #2

I just started to edit my Youtube Video, and some problem have arise because I want to put some text in and want to make my 2 videos play at the same time, but forgot how to do that.

Plus, now my laptop keeping over heated 3 times already, so I am giving up now and will try again tomorrow.
However, I wish that I will get it done before Tuesday. So, I can show it to Nathan in the tutorial. and ask him for suggestion.

OHHHH.... and we have test on Tuesday 28th October Room 6B10 9:30am,,,,,, better start do some reading now.

Project B

Firstly, I was going to make my video like a documentry that interview the students in the class.
the aim of the documentary was explored on what are they using Youtube for and what do they think about YouTube. But yesterday I had came up with the new idea for my video and the idea was about to show 2 sides of YouTube, bad and good.
So I drew my new storyboard yesterday and arranged to shot my Youtube video. Therefore now I only have to deal with the editing part.

My video was shot in the computer lab (building 10). Poupee (my friend) is the starring of my video. Firstly, the timing problem was arise, because I tried to shot 2 videos that look like it being shot at the same time. It might sound confuse but if you take a look on my video you will understand what I'm trying to say.

So, the way that I deal with the timing problem was I opened the computer and lets Poupee watched it as the same time as I'm shooting.

Nathan is not here again, so the class was ran by Michael.
Michael showed us a few more examples of Data visualization.
.....he also mention about the Quiz that it is going to be in the lecture time and it's going to be about everything that we have learned.

Then, Michael talk about project B of student individually.
I showed him my storyboard and he suggested that it is ok.

He said,
I just have to make it fun and interesting,
and not to long talking
may be I can use quick editing
and don't make the questions that I'm going to ask the interviewer too structure,
don't fixed the question. lets them say anything they like.

Week 13, Nathan was absent, so the tutorial was ran by Michael Honey.
I was about 15 minutes late and when I showed up the computer was full, so I did have a chance to do anything in class.
However, I showed up in another tutorial on Wednesday afternoon, it is Max Wheeler's class.
I talked to him about the option #3, which is YouTube thing. Max showed me few examples of how I can do my video. One of them was the Vimeo video, the video look like a documentary about Tumblr. and I think that is kind of thing that I wanted to do.

After the class, I started to draw my storyboard.

In the tutorial Nathan explained about Production Project B (Option 2 and 3)

Option 2:
Nathan showed some websites that give us an idea about what he means by crate and structure a photographic tour.
the website that he showed are:

then he clicked to the Flickr page to show the class how to put the images from Flickr to the map.

After that, Nathan asked every one to open the Yahoo Pipes webpage. then he teach us the create our Pipe.

Week 11 tutorial Nathan explain about the Project B (option 1)
I talked to Nathan about the Production Project B that I might chose the option number 3 about the YouTube video.

Due to my lack of reading skill, I misunderstood that the VDO have to be about YouTube itself.
At first I though that the VDO can be anything and after It had been uploaded in to YouTube website I have to critique and analysis the service.
so, talking to Nathan was worth.

Nathan also talked about 'data visualisation' in the tutorial. he showed us WE FEEL FINE website. The website was able to search how many people have written the the word arty, love, happy.....etc in their blog, then all the blogs that have the word that we looking for will show up on the page.

Data visualization is about present the data in the easy way to read and understand. In the lecture we were discussing about how we can use scale, colour, shape, position and movmet to help us understand the data

and one example that was shown in the lecture was the way that we added commas at each three digits of the number the make it easier to read. like 3,000,000. So, when we see the number we will know immediately that it is 3 million not 3 hundred thousand.

Week 10 lecture was run by Max,

the lecture was about HTML and CSS code.

Honestly, I never be taught about HTML before, so firstly it seem to be really hard for me to understand these computer's language. On the other hand, I felt that it is pretty cool if I know how to use these codes, because when Max showed an example of what can we do in the lecture, it look really interesting.

After that, in the tutorial Nathan made all my confusion and worry gone away, because he made every write the HTML code to make the IceCream Sandwiches web page, which guide by him and his fast typing page on the screen, ^_^

but at least he make me felt that the HTML and CSS is not that hard to understand, it just need sometime to spend looking at it and more practice.

after my web page turn out to be something like the example page, I felt really proud that at least I can do it.

From the lecture, I learned that

HTML : is the set of markup symbols or codes inserted in a file intended for display on a WWW browser page. ( HTML is the content)

CSS : Cascading Style Sheets are a series of instructions that specify how text should appear on a web page. CSS set the rule for the content. you can use CSS to set the style for text, boarders, and other elements, and apply these style to the entire web site.

This week tutorial, Nathan lets everyone spend their time on their own project, he also helped and looked at every student's assignment one by one.

When it's come to my turn I showed him my online exhibition blog(what I have done so far) he suggested that I should do more writing, and he also critic about my crazy Html post format, because I had copied and pasted lots of writing into the post, he told me to rearrange it and keep the post look simple and easy to read.

Moreover, he also told me to write an introduction and the rational for my exhibition as well.

In tutorial week 6,

Nathan talked about Copyright that we have to deal with in the assignment 1.

Plus, he also showed us that webpage that we can search for creative common (CC) work

After that, he help and discuss with student one by one about their project A.

comes to my turn, Nathan helped me with my project he showed me how to make the images that I posted link back to the original page.

Additional, What I learnt form the lecture 6 is 'wisdom of crowds'

wisdom of crowds is about the aggregation of information in group, resulting in decision that, are often better than could have been made by any single member of the group.

example: wikipedia ,open source software and decision markets.

These are 4 elements that required to form a Wisdom of Crowds

Diversity of opinion : each person should have private information even if it is just an eccentric interpretation of the known facts.
Independence : people's opinions aren't determined by he opinions of those around them.
Decentralization : people are able to specialise and draw on local knowledge.
Aggregation : some mechanism exists for turning private judgments into a collective decision.

I’m really interested in Typography works such as photographs, paint or animations.
I’m always searching for typography images and I love to look at others people’s idea. so, I decided to collect and post up other’s typography work that I had been through, I would like to make my blog as a collection of typography work that I like.

the reason that I chose blog to show my online exhibition is because blog can post up lost of thing such as journal, photo or video.

I felt that the exhibition of animation that I wanted to do is too board.

So, I think I'm going to focus on only one particular topic which is 'TYPOGRAPHY'

I think I will create a blog and demonstrate some articles, videos and images that I think it is interesting and related to typography

badly, I can only find the typography animations in YOUTUBE website, but the animation is not in very good quality, in Mytoons and Vemio

This week tutorial,

Nathan asked everyone to pick one website that we like, it can be any website or a personal blog. Then we have to present it in front of the class about:

what do we like about that website?
whether we like the design or not?
is it a web 1.0 or 2.0?
is it a social website?

I chose to do www.kosanathai.com ,

a Thai website, which is a bit old and massy design, but the good thing is it has lots of Thai and world television commercials(TVC) for me to download. Plus, it also a social website because there is a forum to discuss about the TVC and other types of ad. Still, it is a web 1.0 website, because the user do not able to the interface much with the website.

My understanding of Web 2.0 is that the websites that are interface by user rather than only the owner of the web.

Production Project A

Today I started to think about my Production project A .

first I was going to do an TV Ads (TVC) exhibition but I think it just a little bit too much about copyright. So, I chose to do an online exibition of "the Animation Videos" instead.

At the end of the tutorial, I spoke to Nathan about my Project. Nathan recommended lots of website that I can demonstrate my exhibition and some websites the I can find the animations.(Mytoons.com, Vemio...etc.)

Then, I asked him about the copyright licensed. he told me to find some of the animation that I interrest in first and show him next class and he will tell me how to licensed appropriately.

From the lecture week #3 the most interesting part was.. when Michael said that

" It's not necessary to always follow the rules"

He reminded me of one of my teachers in Thailand ...In the first lecture class, a lecturer walked in and introduced himself normally......after that, he gave out A4 papers to every student. At first I thought he was gonna ask everyone to right their names down and put it on the table so he gets to know everyone's name, but instead of that he asked the students to make their own paper airplane and try to throw it as far as they can.. so the students started to fold their nice and powerful airplanes in the usual style (such as, the arrow,the dart,the champ, the moth..etc.) then start throwing it as far as they can, but no one could make it hit the wall at the back of class room.

Finally, the teacher said he will show everyone his paper air plane....he grabbed an A4 paper and scrunched the paper with his hand then he threw it and it hit the wall.....

"don't stick to the rules" he said

'so, let's make our Blog different'

MEDIA = A “medium”, (plural: media) is something intermediate, something
between one person and another, and that medium allows us to communicate or express ideas.(across space and time)

NETWORKED = “networked”: not face-to-face: there is a carrier medium. Not one-to-one {telephone}. Not broadcast {one-to-many e.g TV, radio}. It’s many-to-many. In practice, that means the >>internet.

HTML = HyperText Markup Language

XML = eXtensible Markup Language. XML is kind-of human readable, and it’s kind-of
machine readable.So it’s a good compromise.

RSS = Really Simple Syndication.(The basis for newsreader feeds)

Moreover, I learnt a little bit of Internet history from the first lecture as well.

Precursor: ARPANET ARPA was the Us Advanced Research Projects Agency.

in 1960s, They started connecting computer network across US and then the world.

In the past, the internet was very slow, and we unable to send the whole message or file in one contiguous stream.

So, we have to chopping up data into packets, this method called 'Packet switching' and the data have to send along with 'Metadata'

Metadata is the thing that tells the packet where to go, so when the receiver got the packet they will understand it.

from what i know bandwidth is something in the Internet connection cables which indicated how fast data can be transfer from ISP to our computer
It 's the capacity for a given system to transfer data over a connection
so why does it take so long for every Web page you visit to appear on your screen ? that's where bandwidth comes in.

In computer networks, bandwidth is often used as a synonym for data transfer rate - the amount of data that can be carried from one point to another in a given time period (usually a second). The beginning of my blog

I chose Blogger because it looks simple but actually there are lots of thing We can do to the Blog.

In the lecture 2: lecturer discussed about Blog or Weblogs

he said blogs are form of online publishing.

A website that we might classify as a blog is one that is easily and often updated and mostly in the chronological order.

Blog, is about anyone, everyone publishing about anything.

Moreover, he also mentioned that Blog is the easiest, cheapest, fastest publishing tool ever invented. Blog makes people have a voice that they did not have before.
